Our Story
Since 1978
We are Walter and Dorothy Hartwell. In 1978, we opened our little glass studio in a converted barn behind our farmhouse. What began as a hobby grew into our life’s work — decades of shared mornings, late nights, and molten glass shaped side by side.
For nearly five decades, every piece was crafted by hand by the two of us. Every vase, ornament, and small figurine carries the marks of that partnership and the love behind it. Our daughter Lily used to help us wrap orders and choose colors — she always had the best eye for blues and greens.
Walter passed away recently, and his absence is felt in every corner of the studio. After also losing our dear Lily in 2022, and as Dorothy’s health now requires more care, the decision has been made to close the workshop.
To honor Walter’s memory and ensure these final pieces find good homes, every remaining item in the studio is now on sale. Each one represents a lifetime of work, love, and shared craft. Thank you for supporting our art and for helping carry Walter’s legacy forward.
With gratitude and love,
Walter & Dorothy
